H&M Europe's top retail brand

The consultancy firm Interbrand crowned the Swedish fashion chain H&M "Europe's top performing retail brand" at the second annual World Retail Congress in Barcelona. Other top performers in the first ranking of Europe's 25 most valuable brands are the French-owned Carrefour, global furniture retailer IKEA, and British retailing leaders Tesco and Marks & Spencer. Interbrand declared that H&M earned the accolade by realizing that they had to design the right portfolio of store formats. They also delivered trend-setting design and couture to the mass market to maximize brand experience. Consistent with the study, top retailers generate value for their brands because they understand the importance of building and investing in their own brands. (Three of the top five brands exclusively offer their own brands.)
