Delhaize has come up with a plan for shopping within time. This new method, called ‘Self-scanning’, is easy to use, it gives you an overview of your expenses and you can manage your own shopping budget. The underlying idea is that customers scan the bars of the products they want to buy and when they arrive at the pay desk they just deliver the scanner to the cashier, you pay the amount that is reported on the scanner and you are done. The system is based on the customers loyalty, although a minimum of supervision is required.
